Bad Beat

The term bad beat is given to a hand when a player gets very unlucky to lose the hand. It usually occurs when a player is all in with a much stronger hand and high probability of winning.

Example: You are all in with pocket kings on a 2-2-K-3 board against a player with A-2 suited and the river comes another 2.

Bad beats affect players adversely, causing them to misplay the hands that follow.
